The more eagle eyed amongst you will be aware that Damo Parkinson has joined the management team at Gainsborough Trin & we all wish him the very best.
Well, the club have acted quickly to strengthen – & we are delighted to announce that a shy, quiet, unassuming lad by the name of Leon Mettam has joined our management team!!!!
For anyone that doesn’t know Metts, he started his playing career at Lincoln City & has also turned out (primarily as a striker) for Stamford, Corby, Gainsboro, Worksop, Tamworth, Kings Lynn, Spalding & has been player-coach at Skegness Town most recently.
We’ve had some right royal rumbles with Metts in the past – most notably when he was at Worksop – so it’ll be great to have him on our side for once!!!
The Gaffer said:
“I’m Really pleased to get Leon in as Assistant Manager.
He’s a great character to have around the place and his personality is infectious.
He demands high standards and is a born winner who has now dipped his toe onto the management ladder as a player-coach at step 6 and now has a great opportunity at a great club steeped in history.
His knowledge of the game is excellent and he’s keen to use those skills and help develop the team to keep improving.
He’s had a fantastic career and he will add all of his experiences especially to the younger players at the club.
Having managed Leon previously I knew he would, one day, be an ideal candidate to be able to make the step up to management and is a massive addition to what is an already improving set of players and staff.”
Leon is also keeping his Copa Mondials polished, for those occasions when he needs to get on the pitch & ‘have a word’ in a defenders ear!
